Damiana (Turnera diffusa)

Damiana (Turnera diffusa)

Damiana is known as the herb of love and although it has gained a huge following for its aphrodisiac properties, Damiana has also been used traditionally for its many spiritual uses as well across several cultures and regions!

Damiana is a native shrub that grows in parts of southern Texas in the USA, Central America, Mexico, South America and the Caribbean.

It is a low growing plant that grows as a fragrant shrub with small yellow flowers.

It is often confused with Ram-Goat Dashalong or Turnera Ulmifolia which is also known as Jamaican Damiana although they are both very different in person!

Damiana’s spiritual uses are many! Often mixed with other herbs for dream magick to enhance prophetic dreams and astral projection. Can be used to assist in heightening powers of divination by burning as an herbal incense or blended with other herbs such as Mugwort, Marshmallow, Blue Lotus, Eyebright, Lemongrass, Mace, etc…

For love, Damiana is known to increase sexual desires, lust, passion and attraction! Add to your baths to attract love, sexual energy and boost self-love and confidence or add on your next love spell for added touch of passion and desire!

In the Afro-Caribbean tradition, Santeria, Damiana is also known as “Rompe Camisa” or “Shirt Breaker” and used for cleansings to remove negative energy by breaking any workings that may have been done on the individual and breaking/removing bad luck.

No matter which land we visit, we can’t deny Damiana is one of those powerful herbs that have made an imprint in the witchy world for its mystery and power!
