Welcoming Love / Dar la bienvenida al amor: A Spell for Mutual Romance

Original love spell · Hechizo de amor original

There is sweetness in making room for someone you have yet to meet: a place for laughter, attraction, affection and a freely chosen yes. Welcoming Love / Dar la bienvenida al amor is an original two-heart paper spell for inviting mutual romance. Its two hearts stand beside each other with space to remain themselves.

A little historical context

Love has inspired many different forms of ritual and poetry. In the ancient Homeric Hymn 6 to Aphrodite, the Hours welcome and adorn the goddess before bringing her among the gods. It is a hymn of praise, not a recipe for this spell.[1] Its scene offers a literary image of arrival and welcome.

Classics scholar Christopher A. Faraone distinguishes ancient Greek workings aimed at erotic seizure from those aimed at affection or friendship. His research also discusses coercive practices; “love magic” does not name one timeless, uniformly gentle tradition.[2] Our spell makes its own purpose explicit: welcome a willing connection, with no named target and no attempt to bind a person.

The materials, heart arrangement and spoken words below are Touch of Magick Shop’s original practice. They are not an ancient Greek rite, Hoodoo formula, Vodou service or Santería ceremony. No deity invocation is required.

What are you inviting?

Choose the qualities of a relationship rather than a particular person: warmth, mutual attraction, honesty, playfulness, or shared availability. Make room for the other person to bring their own hopes, boundaries and pace. The intention is “love we both welcome,” with neither heart placed above the other.

You may cast this when you feel ready to meet someone. You do not need to be perfectly confident or have every part of life settled. The working can mark a sincere opening while leaving the timing and outcome uncertain.

Correspondences for this spell

Symbol or correspondence Meaning and attribution
Two equal hearts Our symbol for two people with equal freedom and dignity.
A visible gap Our reminder that closeness includes boundaries and a freely given yes.
Pink paper Optional shop-selected color for tenderness; not a universal ancient love correspondence.
An envelope Our way to keep the intention private and complete the working.
Aphrodite’s welcome Literary context from Homeric Hymn 6; invoking a deity is not part of this spell.

Materials & preparation

Use two small paper rectangles, a larger card, a pencil and an envelope. Pink paper is optional. Draw a heart on each rectangle instead of cutting it out. Work at a clear indoor table. There are no herbs, oils, bodily materials, food, flame or objects taken from another person.

Cast the two-heart welcome

  1. Prepare the place. Lay down the larger card and place the two heart papers side by side, leaving a finger-width gap. If using pink paper, place it beneath them.
  2. Name what you offer. On the first heart, write “What I offer” and three honest qualities you want to bring, such as kindness, clear communication and affection.
  3. Name what you welcome. On the second, write “What I welcome” and three qualities you hope to share. Include “mutual willingness.” Leave names, photographs and identifying details out.
  4. Set the intention. Write along the larger card’s lower edge: “I welcome a loving connection freely chosen by us both.”
  5. Speak the charm. With your hands resting beside the cards, say: “Two hearts free, two voices clear, may willing love draw kindly near. With warmth to offer, room to grow, let mutual affection find its flow.” This verse is our own.
  6. Keep the space. Look once more at the gap between the hearts. Let it stand for the freedom to accept, decline, or move slowly. Do not tie or bind the papers together.
  7. Close. Place the cards in the envelope and say, “My welcome is spoken; each heart remains free.” Keep it in a private, dry place.

After the spell

Pair the working with a comfortable opening in daily life: accept an invitation, update a dating profile, or make time for an interest you enjoy. Respect a declined invitation without recasting at that person. The spell promises no partner or deadline. Retire it whenever you choose by thanking the intention and keeping or recycling the paper; no burning or burial is needed.

Journal prompt

What would mutual love feel like in everyday actions, and what am I ready to offer freely?
